About Quorum Academy
AQK Associação Quorum Cultural aims to promote cultural and human development through the arts and through the identification, promotion and creation of quality cultural activities in the area of dance.
QUORUM ACADEMY is the venue for the promotion of these goals among the general population, having started dance classes in 2007. Under the direction of Daniel Cardoso, it aims mainly to promote the teaching of dance as a factor of cultural qualification, quality of life and citizenship.
From the start, the Academy has sought to adapt its educational offer to the community needs by diversifying it. It has also increased its level of demand aiming at its goals of an ever-increasing quality, not only in terms of the contents that are taught, but also in what concerns the pedagogical team, being some of its teachers dancers of the renowned Quorum Ballet Dance Company.
In order to increase the students training level, Projecto Quorum was created in 2011, with the aim of encouraging and training students with aptitude for dance and who have goals of professionalization. Thus it was possible to create a young dance company linked directly to Quorum Ballet which enables a better technical and artistic training. Throughout the year the young dancers work with several choreographers and participate in shows presented in the city of Amadora and in several showrooms in Portugal. Up to 2016, 14 works were produced, including 11 original ones created specifically for the Project, by several renowned choreographers.
In September 2015, Quorum Academy in partnership with Quorum Ballet inaugurated a new venue located in Amadora at 120 m of Amadora Este Metro station (Falagueira). This space is equipped with 3 studios, offering the best conditions for the practice of dance. It has a wide range of modalities for all ages, such as Classical Ballet, Contemporary, Hip-hop, Creative Dance for people with disabilities, Pilates and Tap dance among others, also promoting workshops of different types of dance throughout the school year.
