Em Modo Jazz

The girl with blue necklace, The one in love, The friend, The regular guy

When I was challenged to create a new choreographic work inspired by Jazz music and culture, I was immediately interested in understanding how this kind of sound would influence the way I look and feel my choreographic work. As my choreographic language is mostly sustained and inspired by music and sound, I have been influenced by environments, feelings, emotions and organized chaos, present in this musical style. The literary work of the poetess Maya Angelou had an enormous weight throughout the process, for the strong connection with life, society and human feeling.

In Jazz Mode it refers back to a time of the 60s / 70s, when jazz was at its peak and social adjustments occurred in a world in which human contact and interpersonal relationships were essential for communication. The counterpoint is realized with the present, where everything is virtual, including the image of the positive side of our life, through a game of vanities where personal communication is scarce. In this universe where the play takes place, the side of life that really is real and important is forgotten and the ephemeral abounds.
