    Biography

    Ballet Teacher

    Mariana Matos was born in January 16th, 1999 in Aveiro, Portugal.

    When Mariana was 9 years old, she began her dance training on Classical Dance Technique and some years later started with Contemporary Dance Technique. Received the certification in Classical Dance given by the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (2015) while student in “Escola de Bailado de Aveiro”. From 2015 to 2017 she was doing Technique of Classical Dance and Contemporary Dance at “Lpstudio” dance academy.

    As an additional training she participated in several editions of the “Estágio de Dança de Aveiro” and in the “Encontros de DançAlternativa”. She also participated in two editions of the Summer School of the Lisbon Film Orchestra in the Dance section (Lisbon 2013 and 2014).

    Mariana also took part in the “Open Stages” and “Competitive Show” of the 1st and 3rd edition of “Aveiro Dance Festival”, obtaining, in the group category, the 3rd place with the “Projeto Flow”, and the 2nd place with “Lpstudio”. She also attended Workshops on this dance festival annually.

    She was a dancer in SEQUÊNCIA – Young Dance Company where she danced “Volátil” by Lara Pereira, “Entre Paredes” by Álvaro Ribeiro and “Corpo e Alma” by Ana Cláudia Capela (2015-2017).

    Due to Aveiro Dance Festival she won a scholarship for the Artistic Residence of the Company White & Givan in collaboration with the Scottish Ballet Youth Exchange at the Scottish Ballet in Glasgow, Scotland during 2017.

    Since 2017 she has been a student of “Escola Superior de Dança” in Lisbon, and is currently attending the final  year of the Dance Degree.

    Mariana had an important role as a choreographer, dancer and co-author on the play “Geração Dantas”, presented at the D. João V Cine Theatre in Lisbon and at the Theatre Mascarenhas Gregório in Silves, included in the 3rd Edition of the “Festival Entrelaçados”.

    In 2018 she joined the “Projeto Quorum” and participated in the pieces “White R.” by Bruno Duarte, “Requiem” by Filipe Narciso and “CONGA” by Inês Godinho. In the season 2019/2020 she will present three new creation by the choreographers Miguel Ramalho, Lua Carreira e Daniel Cardoso.

    In 2019 she attended the audition for Quorum Ballet where she was selected to integrate the piece “The Rite of Spring – Made in China” by the Choreographer and Artistic Director Daniel Cardoso. Later she is invited to be part of Quorum Ballet as a trainee in the season 2019/2020. Since then she danced on national and international stages the pieces “Correr o Fado”, “Mangas de Alpaca” and “Saudade l Back to Fado” by Daniel Cardoso as well as excerpts of “NOUS l Inner Perception”, “30.000 lives l Aristides”, “Getting up” and “Impulse” by Daniel Cardoso. She also danced “A Cidade Verde e a Cidade Azul” and “E se eles fugissem todos?” by Filipe Narciso and “Para lá do mar de Sophia” by Inês Godinho, part of the children’s repertoire of the Company.
