Filipe Macedo studied at the school of Gulbenkian Foundation, at the school of CNB and at the Centre de Danse Rosella Hightower, in France.

In 1986, he joined the cast of National Ballet of Portugal. Posteriorly, he danced in several other companies , namely Hannover Ballet, Zurique Ballet and Leipzig Ballet under the direction of Uwe Scholz.

Graduated in Classical Dance Teaching by the Ministry of Culture of France (Diplôme d’état de Professeur de Danse), he taught at the National Dance Conservatory  in Lisbon, and is presently a resident teacher at the National Ballet of Portugal.
